Anna Rice

Anna Rice is a Dublin/London-based composer, orchestrator and songwriter. Equally at home in orchestral and electronic fields, her screen composing credits include the theme song to multi-award winning BBC animated series Zombie Hotel, Baghdad Express dir. Nimer Rashed, Revelations dir. Jane Lee and as orchestrator, Winter’s End. Her score to Graham Cantwell’s Anton (starring Gerard McSorely) earned her a nomination for Best Original Score in the 2009 Irish Film and Television Awards.

She has conducted and produced her scores with the Hollywood Studio Symphony, the Dublin Philharmonic Orchestra and the City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra and worked as composer, producer and performer with numerous internationally-acclaimed Irish artists, including Brian Kennedy, Phil Coulter, Zoe Conway, Michael O’Toole, The Three Tenors in Concert, Frankie Gavin, Jack L and Sinéad O’Connor.

An ethnic music specialist, Anna spent 2004 recording and researching Peking Opera and folk music in China for her MA in Ethnomusicology (Irish World Music Centre). She trained in Film Scoring at the Royal College of Music in London, and is an alum of the ASCAP Filmscoring Workshop, Moonstone Filmmakers’ Lab and Trinity College Dublin. She was awarded the Bill Whelan International Music Bursary in 2006 and holds an LRSM Diploma in violin performance. In spring 2009 her music will be performed live across the USA during the Dublin Philharmonic Orchestra’s 49-concert nationwide tour.
