Programme Note
Lines of Desire is a term attributed by architects and planners to the routes that evolve over time, which people instinctively take through open space, rather than those marked by paths or pavements. This short work for piano invokes that progression. The melodic ideas are not guided by any particular form or structure; they grow by nature, not nurture.
