Programme Note

General detachment in the world, the elderly nearly have to apologise for living, the youth, perfectly trained, do not even get miserable jobs. Taking these facts into account, my quartet “Desafección” (Detachment) tries to give some hope to the future. Suffocating bariolages of the second violin and viola try to force the clean lyric lines of the first violin and violoncello, uncertain allies in this occasion. Fortunately, towards the end of the piece, such melodic gestures harmonise with resonant intervals in form of a shield against hopelessness. Finally, a bit of confidence succeeds within collective endeavour.

The World Premiere for "Desafección" will be presented on 27th October 2012 at the Festival Internacional de Música Contemporánea de Tres Cantos in Madrid by Cuarteto Leonor.
