Programme Note

I have used Billy Strayhorn's beautiful tune Chelsea Bridge as the backbone for my new Ellington piece. The Duke and Strayhorn worked together closely and in fact the band's signature tune "Take the A-Train" was a Strayhorn composition. This piece is an affectionate tribute to these two great artists.
