Magnus Lindenberg's "Corrente" (Revised Version 2000) [Corrente - China Version] works for the most part with states of amorphous sound and their flowing transitions and can, accordingly, only vaguely be described - for example "dark, looming, slow, deep." (= beginning) or "central range, brighter colours, excited fluttering" (= middle section).
But then the cor anglais comes in, playing with thirds in an almost oriental manner, presenting the first distinct figure of the piece. The effect is extraordinary, especially when the melody quickly emerges in other instruments and so combines with itself, becomes tangled up in itself, and dissolves its clear contour again.
