Programme Note

This Is How It Is draws on material from my opera The Man With Footsoles of Wind (conceived by Bruce Chatwin, with libretto by Roger Clarke). The opera is based on the last months of the French Symbolist poet Arthur Rimbaud. This piece features two dances in which Djami attempts to cheer up Rimbaud on their journey across the desert.
