I need a programme note and/or composer biography. How do I get them?

Biographies are available for many of the composers we represent.  Biographies appear on the Composer’s page on the website.

If a programme note is available for a work, it will appear on the work's page on the website. Search the works page for specific pieces.

Generally, programme notes and biographies published on the website are available for use unless otherwise stated. For example, some programme notes are protected by copyright and permission from the copyright holder should be sought before reproducing them

If you don't find the information you are looking for, please send a written request via mail, fax, or e-mail. We will provide the information if it is available. Please allow one to two weeks for us to process your request.

I found a Chester and/or Novello publication from over 75 years ago. How valuable is it?

We really have no way of knowing how valuable one of our old publications may be. In most cases, it will probably not be very valuable, simply because so many copies were printed. But, as with any collectible item, the value probably depends on who wants it for what purpose, as well as its physical condition. We recommend that you give it to a friend or relative who is interested in music; or donate it to a public library and take a tax deduction; or take it to an antiquarian book dealer. These dealers occasionally buy/sell old music.
